From emergency expenses to major life changes, we’ve all had times when our monthly bills are too big for our budgets. That’s why EPB is always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor. Whether that means making payment arrangements, helping connect families with available support or serving them through our sponsorship of organizations distributing necessary items in the community, we are here to give people peace of mind when they need it most.

Proud to provide a lifeline for people in need.
It’s hard to imagine choosing between feeding your family and paying for an unexpected expense. That’s why EPB and TVA joined forces with United Way to support the EPB & TVA PowerShare Fund (formerly the United Way Bridge Fund), which provides confidential assistance to those with immediate needs for food, healthcare, utility payments, or childcare. Since 2020, EPB and TVA have contributed nearly $1.4 million to this vital fund—helping our neighbors through challenging times with dignity and hope.
Supporting causes that make a real difference.
For example, we enthusiastically support the Urban League’s "Shoes for School" program, which helps children facing financial hardship start the year with new shoes, backpacks, and confidence. And when families face food insecurity, we help the Chattanooga Area Food Bank fill the gap—delivering not just meals, but dignity and hope. All of us at EPB are honored to amplify the good work of organizations like these, and many, many more.
Our United Way Employee Giving Program amazes us every year.
We are so proud of how our employees not only support our community through their everyday jobs, they also are quick to donate their own hard-earned money to support this worthy cause. Over the years, EPB employees have given more than $5 million to the United Way.
PowerShare shows the power of sharing, and love.
Providing direct support to families in need, this critical program is funded entirely by EPB customers—through small contributions added to monthly electric bills or onetime pledges. Every dollar is distributed through the United Way 211 fund to local families in a time of need. PowerShare is, indeed, a powerful example of how our community takes care of its own—one bill, one family, one act of kindness at a time.
